Dr. Akruti Desai

Dr. Desai has worked as a faculty as Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Services at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Visakhapatnam, India for 3 years (2018-2021) after 3 months orientation at LVPEI, Hyderabad. During this period she was in-charge of the Operation Theatre (2019) and was also a member of ethics committee of the institute. Previously, she has worked as a DNB teacher at Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (April 2021- January 2022). She has also worked at Dr.Agarwal’s Eye Hospital, Chennai as a consultant in Oculoplasty & Cataract services (October 2015- November 2017).

Dr. Desai is discerning clinician who believes and practices evidence based medicine. She is also passionate about teaching and academics and has contributed to scientific literature through publications in national and international journals. She has many presentations at national and international conferences like National Conference of Ophthalmology, Tashkent Uzbekistan and Oculoplastic Today at Tel Aviv, Israel. Her recent paper was accepted at American society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive surgery meeting at Chicago.

Dr. Akruti Desai’s interest outside of ophthalmology include painting, swimming & trekking. In her early years she pursued basketball passionately and has represented the Maharashtra State in National basketball girls & junior women’s tournaments.
