Community Ophthalmology is a field of eye care that focuses on promoting eye health and preventing avoidable blindness in underserved and rural communities. It involves outreach programs and strategies, especially for those who may not have access to regular eye care due to economic or geographic barriers. Community ophthalmologists work with local organizations, government agencies, and other healthcare professionals to provide eye exams, vision screenings, and treatment for eye diseases. The goal of community ophthalmology is to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities through effective eye care services and advocate for policies that support eye health.
