While most surgeries are daycare procedures, some patients who require post-surgery monitoring will be advised to be admitted to the hospital. Patients can select from a range of room options based on availability. During counseling, our counselors will guide patients in choosing the appropriate room, surgical techniques, and available implants.
Following post-operative examination by the doctor, counselors will advise the patient and attender regarding their post-operative care, and medications after which the discharge summary will be provided.
We accept all payment methods, including cash, credit card, UPI, and NEFT.
Prior to the surgery, we will collect a deposit equivalent to or approximate to the treatment or surgery charges. Any remaining balance will be collected or refunded at the time of discharge.
Insurance coverage is applicable only for inpatient procedures and surgeries. In order to claim the insurance amount, an approval from the insurance provider would be required and based on the premium, the reimbursement amount will vary.

At Shantilal Shanghvi Eye Institute, our insurance team helps patients to complete necessary formalities towards availing applicable insurance services.
Insurance coverage is applicable only for inpatient procedures and surgeries. Approval from the insurance company is required to undergo surgery. However, cashless approvals differ based on the policy the patient has opted for.
To avail cashless hospitalization, the patient has to contact our Insurance Department at least 2 days prior to the date of surgery to request pre-authorization. The staff forwards the request to the insurance company and gets initial approval. The insurance company will intimate the patients about the status via SMS or e-mail; if not, the hospital staff will inform the same via phone. On receiving approval from the insurance company, patients can get admitted to the hospital.
In case pre-authorization is not obtained, the patient needs to pay the service amount at the time of admission, and later seek reimbursement from the insurance provider. In case the hospital does not receive the final authorization within 24 hours of admission and the patient is getting discharged, the patient must settle the hospital bill and claim reimbursement from the insurance provider.
The patient must submit the following documents 2 days prior to admission:

To maintain good eye health and vision, practice healthy habits and get regular eye exams. Protect your eyes from UV rays with sunglasses, eat a balanced diet with leafy greens and omega-3-rich fatty acids, take breaks from screens, practice good hygiene, and quit smoking. Schedule regular eye exams with your ophthalmologist for early detection to prevent vision loss.
Eye problem symptoms vary by condition, but can include blurry or distorted vision, pain or discomfort, light sensitivity, redness or swelling, dry or itchy eyes, watering of eyes, and floaters or flashes of light. It is important to seek medical attention from an eye specialist if you experience any of these symptoms.
If you have a family history of eye diseases or have diabetes, you may need to have an eye exam more frequently.
Vitamin A is crucial for healthy vision, keeping the eyes moist which can prevent dry eye syndrome. A deficiency of Vitamin A can cause eye problems like night blindness, corneal ulcers, and even blindness. Eating a Vitamin A-rich diet or taking supplements as advised by a healthcare professional can promote healthy vision.
If your child is squeezing their eyes to see, it could be a sign of an underlying vision problem. Squeezing the eyes can help to temporarily improve focus and clarity, but it can also cause eye strain and fatigue over time. It is important to schedule a comprehensive eye exam for your child to determine if they have any vision problems that require treatment.
Itchy eyes can result from allergies, dry eye syndrome, and eye infections. Refrain from rubbing the eyes which can further irritate the eyes and spread infection. Using artificial tears or warm compresses can provide relief. If symptoms persist, you must consult an eye care professional.
Dry Eye Disease occurs when your eyes are unable to produce enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly. This can result from factors like aging, medications, hormones, environment (dry air), and underlying medical conditions. It causes discomfort, irritation, and blurred vision. Prescription eye drops, punctal plugs, and lifestyle changes may help improve the condition. You can read more about our Dry Eye Clinic here.
Visual floaters are common, particularly with age. They are caused by small bits of protein or other material floating in the eye’s vitreous fluid. Generally harmless, they don’t need treatment. But if you experience many floaters or light flashes suddenly, please seek medical attention as they may indicate retinal detachment or tear. You can read more about floaters here.
Yes, we provide various resources for patients with visual impairments or blindness, such as low vision aids, rehab services, and counselling. The main risk factors for glaucoma include age, family history, and medical conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. Glaucoma is a progressive eye disease that can cause vision loss if left untreated. Though there is no cure, it can be managed with eye drops, laser therapy, and surgery. You can read more about Glaucoma and the services we offer here.
While there is no cure for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), there are treatments that can slow its progression and help manage symptoms. These treatments include injections of medication into the eye and laser therapy. You can learn more about AMD here.
